Midweek around the pilgrim's stick
In days gone by, pilgrims were given a pilgrim’s staff when they set out for a holy destination. It served as a walking aid, to ward off dangerous animals, and above all as a faithful traveling companion.

During this midweek retreat, we will reflect on our own (pilgrimage) journey through life. We will take walks through the meadows surrounding Westerhûs Monastery and reflect on what gives us strength and confidence on our life’s journey. On Tuesday, under the guidance of Rogier Vogelzang, we will carve our own personal pilgrim’s staff from a rough branch. The program is integrated into the monastery’s daily routine.

Date: October 19–23, 2026
Facilitator: Sietske Visser
This program includes a workshop led by Rogier Vogelzang. Rogier is a walking stick carver and wood artist. See www.creanatura.nl
