Libbene stiennen - Living stones
Since this week there are flyers Tsjerkepaad 2025 in the church of Jorwert. Below you can read the introductory text and the flyer.
Wolkom yn de tsjerke fan Jorwert út namme fan NIJKLEASTER AND fan it SAFT-Jorwert (Stichting Alde Fryske Tsjerken).
In the church of Jorwert, Eppie Dam's poem hangs on large banners in the choir of the church. The church building is called "a house built of breath" in the poem. That is beautifully poetically put, but of course the church building is built of stones, of tuff and of monastic bricks. But those dead stones have grown over the centuries into a house of breath: a source of rest; a place of opened hands; a place to breathe and revive. Libbene stiennen - Living stones. Following the theme of Tsjerkepaad 2025, we give you a reflection question. You can carry that question with you in the church, in the churchyard or during a stroll from Jorwert towards the Kapel fan de Alde Friezen, the outside chapel of Klooster Westerhûs of Nijkleaster.
