Jesus says, "I am the true vine, and you are the tendrils" (John 15:1-8). With that, the following words for reflection.
When I dwell on myself, I experience myself primarily as an "I," an individual. In our time, our world, that "I am" is at the forefront of our consciousness. The path of faith, of spirituality, is more and more to discover the connectedness that characterizes us equally. Starting with the connectedness with ourselves, with who we are at the deepest level, hidden under all exteriority. And connectedness with each other and connectedness with God.
Jesus uses the wonderful image of the vine and the tendrils. Picture one: one of those old woody trunks from which lush tendrils grow. Over the course of the season, the bunches of grapes become fuller and fuller. Imagine that you are one such tendril. What does that image bring you? Jesus also talks about pruning the tendrils. Have you ever been trimmed?
