The unruly wisdom of faith growth

Life with God is not always the same. Many experiential stories of dealing with God have been collected in the church. This mystical tradition tells that there are phases in the life of faith. Sometimes everything is clear, sometimes you lose your way, sometimes there is turmoil, sometimes there is peace.

The thoughts we have about God also change. We can grow in trust and surrender.

This weekend you will live to the rhythm of monastery Westerhûs. Marianne Vonkeman is also a guest at the monastery. For thirty years she kept a diary about her relationship with God. After her retirement - she was a Protestant pastor all her life - she published a selection from it under the title: I miss You while you are with me, mystical diary of a pastor.

On Saturday afternoon at the church in Jorwert, Marianne will give a lecture on her spiritual path. She explains how a person and the God relationship are viewed in mysticism. With examples of her own, we will hear about the various "dark nights" that accompany faith growth.

In the evening, Marianne will go a little deeper for the monastic guests into the "transformation process of the soul," as the mystical tradition describes it.
