From the very beginning, the Nijkleasterkuier on Wednesday mornings at Nijkleaster has been a fixed point in the week. Every Wednesday you are welcome for a simple program of silence, reflection and connection. We begin at 9:30 a.m. with a half-hour morning prayer.
Then there is coffee and tea and we get to know each other. Then follows the Nijkleasterkuier, a communal walk of over an hour. We walk the first part in silence. On the way back you are invited to walk with someone and engage in conversation. We end the morning with a communal, self-brought lunch. Be welcome, even if you only come for the celebration or if the walk is too far for you. In the latter case, you can take a shorter walk or stay in the church with others.
Location: Redbadtsjerke, Jorwert
Cost: 6 euros per time, this can be paid in cash and/or via pin. Groups larger than four can register here The program of the Nijkleasterkuier is as follows:
09:30 Morning prayer (simple service with readings, prayer, silence and some songs)
10:00 Coffee or tea
10:30 Start of the NijKleasterkuier walk
12:00 Lunch (bring your own)
Some notes to define your thoughts:
- We will gather at the church of Jorwert (Sluytermanwei 4, Jorwert). Please park preferably on the outskirts of the village or else at the special parking places right opposite the café next to the farm. We try to be as little a nuisance to the people of Jorwert as possible.
- Everyone may participate. The morning service begins at 9:30 a.m. Even if you are late: just come in.
- Groups larger than four people should sign up in advance at info@nijkleaster.frl A group may then consist of up to 10-12 people. Larger groups can spread out over several Wednesdays or request their own program (Customized Program). This rule was instituted because more than one group on a morning is not feasible or desirable in terms of capacity.
- In winter, the church hall is not heated. So put on warm clothes. The pre-church and the Storey are heated (for coffee and lunch).
- The Nijkleasterkuier is no ordinary walk. Often the walk is made up of three parts: silence, reflection and connection. Part of the walk we do in silence. Along the way, pieces are sometimes read or songs are sung.
- The length of the Nijkleasterkuier depends on the weather and the participants. Often the walk lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
- Good walking shoes or boots are important. We often walk on unpaved roads around Jorwert.
- The Nijkleasterkuier is not mandatory (nothing is mandatory, by the way). You can also choose to attend only the service and coffee. For whatever reason. Those who cannot or dare not walk that far return after a while. Others stay behind in the church alone or with someone else. That too proves to be a beautiful and soothing experience.
- After the Nijkleasterkuier there will be coffee and tea again. We eat our self-brought lunch.
