Kleasterling (non-resident of Klooster Westerhûs)
As a kleasterling (monastic) you live according to the spirituality of the circle of Nijkleaster. A kleasterling 'outside the gate' lives this spirituality at home, is part of the mienskip (community) of kleasterlingen at Klooster Westerhûs and carries the work of Nijkleaster. You are available at least one half day each week for the work of Nijkleaster. You donate 10% of your tidy income and/or of your time to Nijkleaster (or other religious or social cause in your own local context).
Kleasterling (resident of Klooster Westerhûs)
As a kleasterling (monastic) you live according to the spirituality of the circle of Nijkleaster. A kleasterling 'inside the gate' lives this spirituality at Klooster Westerhûs, is part of the mienskip of kleasterlingen at Klooster Westerhûs and carries the work of Nijkleaster. You pay rent for the accommodation and you are available every day for part of the day for the work of Nijkleaster. A kleasterling 'within the gate' thus donates a large part of his or her life to Nijkleaster. You can live 'within the gate' as long as you carry and carry out Nijkleaster's mission in terms of content and practicality.
At this time (June 2025), there are 25 clay students associated with Nijkleaster. Nineteen "outside the gate" and six "inside the gate. Below you will find more information about the kleasterlingen.
