You are always very welcome as a guest at Nijkleaster's activities and gatherings, both in the Radboudkerk in Jorwert and at Klooster Westerhûs. There are no requirements to meet; you can simply join in. Nijkleaster aims to be a welcoming resting place along the way. Once you start to feel at home, your desire to connect more deeply with the Nijkleaster community may grow. We warmly invite you to join the 'Circle of Nijkleaster'. Becoming a supporter of Nijkleaster
As a Supporter (donor), you support Nijkleaster as a community and spiritually. We encourage you to participate in at least one Nijkleaster activity per year and to contribute a minimum of €50 per year.
Become a Friend of Nijkleaster
As a Freon (Friend) of Nijkleaster, you support Nijkleaster in terms of community and spirituality. We encourage you to participate in an activity at least once a month, either as a participant or as a volunteer, and to contribute a minimum of €150 per year.
Become a Member of Nijkleaster
As a Member of Nijkleaster, you take a step further into the circle. We encourage you to live according to the spirituality of the Nijkleaster circle and, if possible, to participate in an activity at least once a week as a participant or volunteer, and to contribute a minimum of €250 per year.
If you become a member, one of our ministers will soon schedule an appointment to get to know you better. You will also learn more about membership at Nijkleaster. As a new monastic movement, Nijkleaster is connected to the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. We will therefore ask whether you would also like to register or transfer your church membership alongside your participation in Nijkleaster.
Change Nijkleaster Participation
You can change your participation in Nijkleaster using the change form. At Nijkleaster, we don't assume that the choices you made in the past are set in stone. You may wish to change your place within the Nijkleaster Circle (as a supporter, friend, or member), or you may wish to end your participation altogether. You can indicate this in the form.
One-time Gifts and Donations
Significant funds are still needed to realise the mission of the Monastic Community and Klooster Westerhûs. For this, we rely heavily on the financial support of individuals, the government, businesses, and organisations. We would greatly appreciate your help in continuing our mission.
Become a Kleasterling?
If you have been involved with Nijkleaster for a longer time and feel a growing desire to become a kleasterling—a modern monastic—you can apply to one of the ministers associated with Nijkleaster. After further consultation, you may be admitted to the novitiate for prospective kleasterlings. A kleasterling lives according to the spirituality of the Nijkleaster circle and is part of the community of kleasterlings.
