Compass Fund, Conditions

Target
The purpose of the Compassiefonds is to contribute financially to the costs of staying at the monastery It Westerhûs and participating in the activities of Nijkleaster, for those people who cannot pay the costs (in full).
Revenue
The Compassiefonds obtains its financial resources from donations to the Stifting Nijkleaster that are earmarked specifically for this fund.
Request
Applications concern only a contribution to the costs of staying at the monastery It Westerhûs and for the activities of Nijkleaster.
Applications can only be submitted by fully filling out the form on the Nijkleaster website.
Applications must be submitted six weeks before the first day of stay at monastery It Westerhûs or before the date of Nijkleaster's activity.
Review
Applications will be reviewed in order of receipt.
Applications can only be considered and granted if the fund has sufficient resources at its disposal.
Applications are reviewed by two of three people on the Compass Fund Committee.
Applications that are granted result in (part of) the costs to be paid by the applicant being paid directly by the Compass Fund to monastery It Westerhûs or to Stifting Nijkleaster. Never is the applicant entitled to obtain the money himself with which the contribution is paid.
Applications are handled confidentially. Only the committee members who process the application know the applicant's personal data. Those details are also known when the booking is processed, after award and payment.
If an application is rejected, reasons will always be given by the Compass Fund committee. There is no appeal against a rejection decision. However, the applicant can submit a new application for another activity of Nijkleaster or another date of stay at the monastery It Westerhûs.
Should an activity of Nijkleaster or the accommodation capacity of It Westerhûs be unexpectedly fully booked, the registration will not be further processed and the contribution from the fund will not be able to be granted at that time.
When applying, the applicant clearly states what she/he can pay for herself/himself.
Compass Fund Committee
The committee for the Compass Fund consists of three people, all three directly involved with It Westerhûs and Nijkleaster. Committee members are not also members of the board or kleasterried.
The committee members themselves will provide continuity and replace members. New members will be submitted to the Nijkleaster Executive Board for approval first, however.
Accountability
The Compass Fund Committee gives an anonymous and outline account to the Nijkleaster Board on how and to what extent the Compass Fund has been used.
The committee accounts annually for the total sum awarded.
The board of Nijkleaster accounts annually to the committee of the Compass Fund for the income acquired through earmarked gifts.
