Jentsje Popma donated his monumental work "the Hynsteblom" (dandelion) to Nijkleaster in 2013. Soon Jentsje Popma's Hynsteblom, which hung on the exterior wall of Pabo Mariënburg on Achter de Hoven in Leeuwarden for many years, will be given a prominent place on the exterior wall of Westerhûs, Nijkleaster's new monastery in Hilaard. It has now even been chosen as the logo of Nijkleaster.

This gave me the idea to turn the Hynsteblom into a photo project. From my position as 'liaison' between Nijkleaster and ROC Friese Poort - within the Practoraat Brede Vorming - I contacted the photography course at the OntwerpFBRK of ROC Friese Poort Drachten. Lecturer Burney Kielman has been of great value in bringing this to the attention of students and challenging them to take pictures of the dandelion. And with a financial contribution from the Practoraat Brede Vorming the whole project was realized.

In the Grote Kerk of Leeuwarden - in addition to the beautiful artworks of Jentsje Popma - there are also 100 unique photographs of Dandelions. These photos are printed on 20×20 cm panels. Students and teachers of the OntwerpFBRK of ROC Friese Poort and volunteers of Nijkleaster made the photos.
So now there are 100 Hynsteblommen hanging in the Grote Kerk of Leeuwarden for the almost 100 year old Jentsje Popma!
You are welcome to come and see.
